I have been thinking a lot lately about sight vs. vision. This side of heaven, my eyes struggle at times to stay moistened and see clearly. Yet, I am blessed beyond measure to have the gift of sight, though in human terms it may appear flawed.
My vision, on the other hand, is more something I possess. It is something I desire to know completely and keep in clear focus.
God has gifted me Jesus, a treasure trove of family and friends, countless blessings, as well as heartache that leads me to His comfort and counsel. He truly is my Vision! One who can be trusted always and no matter what. I praise Him for all He is and will continue to be!
I’m reminded of a favorite hymn of mine and I’ll close by sharing three stanzas from Be Thou My Vision:
Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best thought, by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light
Riches I heed not, nor vain, empty praise
Thou mine inheritance, now and always
Thou and Thou only first in my heart
High King of heaven, my treasure Thou art
High King of heaven, my victory won
May I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heaven’s sun
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall
Still be my vision, O ruler of all
May it be so!
